This blast was a test blast prior to any activity starting on the Rock Slip above. 3 bags of powder were placed down an intermediate fracture line to see if
any movement might occur in the rock mass. This was largely scaled down from original plans and was, as anticipated, the loudest blast to date.
The force of the blast rode up the fracture and mostly straight up into the air. There were no drilled holes involved in this blast. Hairy Houdini
was trapped in the larger crack above and was removed at sun-up earlier that day. Several roads had been cut into the hillside to get equipment to the top,
but no drilling had commenced by this time. The berm at the base of the Slip had been started.
Be sure to see the Bruce on Blasting video as well to see how drilled holes are loaded.
